The following articles are available to suit a professional SSB - installation on your vessel:
SSB-Radio
IC-M 801E
This is the lastest "stand-of-the-art" SSB-marine transceiver, acknowledged by European regulations.
Equipment
WiFi High Gain USB-Adapter
This Wi-Fi adapter is 5x more powerful than an internal Wi-Fi. The adapter is mounted in a water resistant box and can be placed up to 6m away from the notebook with the help of a USB-repeater-cable, hence the next free access-point in the harbour will easily be reachable. Driver for Win, Linux and Mac.
Backstay-Clamp
This backstay clamp allows you to connect the GTO-15 high-voltage-cable to the insulated backstay safe from dampness. Attempts to fix the feeder with the help of hose clips or ordinary cable clamps will result in a provisional solution, since ingress of moisture would be inevitable. Our backstay clamps are designed for 8 – 11mm backstays (stainless steel) and for 11 – 16mm backstays (brass). We recommend using GTO-15 high-voltage-cable as a feeder.

Standoff Insulator
Standoffs are already quite common in the United States – usually homemade. Most of them are made of cut-off PVC pieces or cable ties. It was our goal to produce them in a weatherproof format and we were able to successfully install them on several vessels taking part in last year's ARC.
Effectiveness: If the GTO-15 high-voltage-cable was directly attached to the un-insulated backstay, a significant part of the emitted HF-power would be diverted to the grounding. As the feeder (GTO 15) is - technically seen - already a part of the antenna, it should be kept at a certain distance to other metal materials, so HF-power can be emitted without interference. This can only be realized by installing the feeder in a suitable distance to the un-insulated part of the backstay with the help of standoffs. Our standoffs are available in two different sizes to fit the GTO – 15 as well as the different sizes of backstays.
SSB-Ground-Paint
Grounding is as important as the antenna itself since it is the antipole to the antenna. The performance of your SSB – equipment - reception and transmission - will be insufficient without good grounding. Steel- and aluminium - vessels bring about optimum grounding properties as for their metal characteristics. Even when an antifouling coating is applied, grounding is realised by capacitive coupling to seawater (capacitive grounding).
It is a much greater challenge to properly ground a GRP – yacht. This can only be realised when allowing for a short cable connection from the tuner to a maximum sized ground plane.
Using dynaplates / sea ground is only a short-term solution to this problem as they start to corrode after a while. Shells and algae add to the problem of loosing effectiveness.
SSB-ground-paint should be applied inside the vessel below the waterline near the antenna – tuner. This also allows for capacitive coupling to seawater. A surface area of about 3qm should be painted for good results. This installation has three major advantages: Firstly, the tuner can be located close to the ground plane. Secondly, we can couple a rather huge area to seawater, and thirdly, the coated area is not susceptible for environmental effects that would lead to corrosion, hence it is maintenance free.
SSB-ground-paint is solvent-free and can easily be applied in the abaft area under the bunks in the bilge. Over coating with conventional spar varnish for conservation is unproblematic. The antenna – tuner is connected to SSB-ground-paint with the help of a broad embedded copper strap. SSB-ground-paint is no lightning protection.
DC-Blocker (DCF-47)
The DCF-47 DC-Blocker is especially designed for metal – vessels. It blocks DC-current between tuner and hull, thus electrolysis. When grounding SBB – equipment we recommend installing the DCF-47.

HF-Insulator
The HF-insulator has especially been designed to suit metal - vessels on which the antenna-tuner is installed below-deck. In order to prevent capacitive loss of power a hole of at least 30mm should be drilled in the deck to run the high-voltage cable through it. The feed through must be insulated to suit HF- installations on aluminium - and steel -vessels. Our HF-insulator fulfils these requirements. It is made of weatherproof materials.
GTO-15 HighVoltage Insulated Wire
This is the wire that is used to connect the antenna tuner to the backstay and whip.antenna. At first glance, it looks like coax, but it only has a single conductor surrounded by 15,000 volt insulation (the "15" in GTO-15) and a UV-resistant jacket. Unlike coax - it has no metal shield or braid. It connects to the tuner with a normal ring terminal and for the backstay side you need a backstay-clamp.
